For this blog post I would like to discuss Twitter. It's usually hard to explain twitter to someone who is not familiar with it. Twitter says it is: "Social networking and microblogging service utilizing instant messaging, SMS or a web interface." But most people wouldn't understand that, so you try and tell them it is like an away message...but not...or a facebook status. But it's not that either. So, basically, to find out what it is you have to just use it!
I love twitter. It is so easy to update and just give a quick blurb about what you're doing or thinking. It's a lot easier to update than this blog! While I've had pretty much no time for this, I almost always have time for twitter.
My first tweet was April 5, 2007:
Little did I know 11 days later I'd be tweeting about shootings on Virginia Tech's campus:
Kevin was tweeting from Pamplin Hall about what was going on around him.
A lot of people followed his tweets during what happened and have told them it helped them get through it. He's been tweeting since March 12th, 2007. He's the one who got me into it.
Almost a year since then and we are still into twitter. There isn't a day that goes by that I think, "Oh! I need to tweet that!" It is a lot of fun to read other's tweets and there is usually some article or joke that a fellow tweeter will put up to amuse you. It really helps with boredom.
So if you wonder what I've been up to because I haven't updated in a while, get a twitter account and start following me! There's your best bet. :) Because everyone loves a stalker. ;)
